that is an interesting and difficult question, adrenalinemime. i would like to say love right off the bat, and i probably will say it ... but ... it is a more difficult question than that. see, the big thing with people, one of the great tragedies we have as people, is that there is very little real connection between us. it's why u get the reporters so often crying at the serial killers or the paedophiles or whatever about not feeling sorrow, basically crying at the world for everyone else about our emptiness. it's the ending of the stranger, where all that meursault has is a memory. it's the ending of 1984, where winston's 'love' was a but a word. "we're all going to die alone," they say. and u know what, i actually even think it's a real big part of what drives people to drug use, to share chemistry with each other, and that that's where we get the whole love culture thing around ecstasy maybe, complete and insane desperation just to feel some connection. so what is love? well, i just think it keeps me grounded to have people i care for and who care for me. i don't know if that's an emotion in itself, and actually it probably even isn't most of the time, but what it is is a contentment, and that should probably qualify. i mean, it's the thing that basically makes me who i am, everything else an offshoot of it. love may be quiet, but it's definitely real. i'm saying love.
