the speed of light is 299,792,458 meters per second. How do we know the speed of light down to the singles digit? If the earth is moving thousands of miles per hour or however fast it's moving...(do we even really know)...then that will distort our measurements of the speed of light. Someone help me here.

Well I believe Einstein said the speed of light is the same in a vacuum for all inertial frame of references. I'm no physician so I only understand half of what that means, but I think it answers your question, unless i made that up

English: a constant speed of where the calculation was made would be irrelevant when it comes to measuring light speed, probably

Tbh, calculating the orbit of the Earth around the Sun and how long it takes to get the velocity of the Earth is some pretty basic Physics. The real question is whether light is wave, when we know it's a particle, but we know it's a wave too, and then does light really exist? What if it's over there? Quantum.
