My biggest issue with rent is that I was never emotionally moved by it because I didn't like any of the characters. If you want to sell me on feeling bad for someone you have to first sell me on them being worth feeling bad for. So many parts of rent make me roll my eyes

Had some v good songs tho

That's fair, although personally I instantly found myself relating and liking a majority of the characters. They are all incredibly flawed but the group has a really interesting dynamic.

The reprise of "I'll Cover You" is one of my favorite things ever.

What moments of Rent do you guys consider annoying?

SPOILER ALERT

the end when Mimi comes back to life after basically dying..

MORE SPOILERS

Eh, I don't really think that she ever died. She was just very ill, and iirc she isn't in good condition when the film/musical ends, just good enough to hear Roger's song.

I think one of the best parts of the musical is how absolutely tragic it is. Roger and Mimi are both still slated to die, and massive character flaws have been exposed in pretty much every character. The musical ends with nobody happy or even in good shape, and with a bleak future ahead. The importance of "right here, right now" is hammered home in the finale for that reason.

I never really did like "Over the Moon" though.

i just really disliked the ending compared to the whole thing for some reason.

I HATE OVER THE MOON. You know in the movie Idina Menzel did that whole thing live right? Like no lip singing? It's all in one cut.

Mm that's fair enough. I was kind of lukewarm about the ending until I realized it wasn't really happy at all and it gave me an interesting perspective.

Also yeah, I can't deny how talented she is but that song just doesn't work. It feels really awkwardly shoehorned in.

Also, in the stage version (not in the film) there's this really awful interlude of homeless people singing "christmas bells are ringing" or something and it sounds awful. Like, at least in the performance that I saw, it was just dreadful. Don't get me wrong though, I love Rent.

Rent will always be one of my favorite shows. I'm not sure if it's because of my dying NEEEEED to play Mimi or what it is, maybe it's because my high school chorus sang a medley of all Rent songs my senior year and it cut deep as all the seniors were sobbing crying and singing in front of a packed auditorium lol.

Like, I find Rent to be annoying at times but it's highlights are really strong

Wicked was just totally irredeemable

Rent has annoying moments i agree with that but overall it will always be one of my favorites.

I like the songs from Wicked though and being mainly a vocal person I'd prefer a good soundtrack with a bad show over a good show with a bad soundtrack.

what is your favorite tv show?

Jesus I can't just pick one, so I'll put them in categories.

1) (Reality TV) The Real World/The Challenge: I've seen every season, crappy reality TV is my guilty pleasure.

2) (Drama)Greys Anatomy, Scandal, Supernatural.

3) (Comedy) HIMYM and Parks and Rec
