the bends is ok, i just think it was a stepping stone for them to make better albums. it's like a 6 for me i just don't get into it as much as later albums and i don't get the people claim its their favorite.
deleteddeletedover 11 years ago
in rainbows > kid a > ok computer > amnesiac > hail to the theif > king of limbs > the bends

i have an unjustifiable hatred towards the bends, it's just an album i cannot bring myself to liking whatsoever. every single song has something that bothers me about it

walcott's pretty great though

hmm how about radiohead albums?
that's disgusting

kid a > in rainbows > okcupid > amnesiac > hail to the thief > the bends > king of limbs > pablo honey

i haven't listened to king of limbs besides the time id ownloaded it so i just put it below the bends by default.

i'll get around to photo album soon, maybe

and i don't really think california english is a miss i enjoy that song quite a lot actually. oxford comma and a-punk and cape cod kwassa kwassa and blake's got a new face rival horchata run cousins and diplomat's son, imo
i usually skip california english. i don't hate it i just don't get much out of it whenever i do take the time ot listen to it. those are all good songs but they're not really as enjoyable as something like horchata for me. like a-punk is one of their most loved songs and i can see that it's a good song, but for me, it's good but not like, super impactful or anything. meanwhile horchata has really good strings near the bridge that help it resonate and the xylophone helps make it stand out.

and i personally like diplomat's son more than ay of the songs on vw except like, the kids don't stand a chance and walcott.

would you prefer to live now, or 100 years from now?
now because 100 years from now will be too wacky and weird

neon bible > funeral > the suburbs

i actually haven't listened to reflektor yet

and mvotc > contra > vw goes over to me as well, though i have trouble with contra and vw because they're pretty interchangeable

transatlanticism is my favorite death cab album though, followed by we have the facts and we're voting yes. plans was really mediocre though i tried really hard to love it but i just didn't. haven't listened to photo album.
reflektor gets universally pooped on for not being similar enough to their old work but people forget that it has really good songs on it. i at least enjoy it more than i enjoy funeral, which i can acknowledge has some really good musical interplay on, but i can't get into as much. generally speaking arcade fire kind of bores me at their worst.

contra is leagues ahead of vw imo but that's not to imply vw is bad. contra has more hit (run, horchata, cousins, diplomat's son) or miss (california english, taxi cab) songs but the hits hit higher for me than the hits on vw.

transatlanticism is cool. we have is my favorite because it's just a good album, i've sort of held it at my base of my musical perosnality for so long i haven't had to explain it in a while. it's just good in the same way that spaghetti is a good dinner choice. plans sucks and i will fight anyone that liked it because it was the downfall of dcfc imo. photo album is good and has some interesting songs on it, one of which being ben gibbard's anthem of why he hates LA

have been meaning to listen to brand new and interpol.

surprised death cab made your list, i didn't think you'd like em that much

and order arcade fire and vampire weekend albums
we have the facts and we're voting yes holds a very special place in my heart and was probably one of the first albums i ever truly fell in love with, and that applies to a lesser effect for transatlanticism and the photo album. they're mostly on there because putting them lower would be untrue to my own personal experience w/them and the impact they've had on me.

neon bible > reflektor > funeral > the suburbs

mvotc > contra > vw

reflektor deserves more love since it has some really good songs on it.
