Greektown's alright, Corktown's alright (the restaurants are fantastic here), the rest of downtown's interesting if you're in to sports/able to legally drink/in to music, Midtown's fantastic if you like doing hoodrat stuff, and I don't know enough about Mexicantown to have an opinion on it.
I like Detroit. Whenever I go there for Red Wing games walking to the arena feels like a real-life video game where you could be hit with a GAME OVER screen any second. It's exhilarating.
