There's no logical reason for it to be one over the other, so you can't say it's a glitch.
I believe werewolf eats first so that whoever they eat can't kill them, and conversion roles convert last so that whoever they convert can act before being converted. Therefor, wolf acts (and reveals, as wolf) and then is converted to maid. Considering reveal does not change when your role changes following the reveal, it makes sense for wolf to reveal as wolf.

Well no. I think old maiding always comes last in order of operations, similar to mason and cult iirc.
