released from prison early, but...

almost 12 years

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-4zamzySJQ

This guy, at 20, was convicted of two armed robberies and given a 98 year sentence, served 8 years and was released due to a clerical error, lived 6 years as a free man, got married and had kids, then was forced to finish the sentence.

There are arguments on both sides of this. Should he or should he not be forced to finish the sentence?

What do you think?
29
Let him be free
6
Force him to finish his 90 Years
5
Give him a shorter sentence of some sort

isnt prison SUPPOSED to be for criminal rehabilitation? he's been fine leave him be.

in Sweden yeah

but in the US....
almost 12 years
I can't find any information on the armed robberies but all of the reports seem to imply that no one was hurt.

If that's the case, 98 years seems excessive. In the time that he's been out, he's been proven to have cleaned up his act.

I don't think he should be off the hook, probation or maybe a few more years, but he shouldn't have to finish the 90.

That's all dependent on no one being hurt.

double jeopardy is nowhere near relevant to this

Man, I really feel bad for this guy. To start his life over and have it ripped from him.

Idk what the right thing here would be. I wouldn't be surprised if they forced him to finish his sentence.

If he was released then he was released, that's it.

I know this probably doesnt apply here, but to me this is pretty much the same as double jeopardy.

yes he should be forced to finish the sentence because that's how the criminal justice system functions.
