It's essentially 5 way 1 hammer every game. Why is this productive in any way?

The point of the games is to set up teams d1 and create a clear to lead on d2. Even though there are 3 GF, you can easily figure out one of the GF d1 and lynch him because he will not be part of any team. 3 teams: Templars, Cops . . . and another team of either templars or cops. And one GF who we lynch D1.
Why do we lynch d1? So maf will have meteor on the six way no clear, forcing it to five way one clear.
Is this really unbalanced?
