I didn't bother reading but holy *** I hope Dan doesn't write another 9 paragraph post attempting to ~politically~ justify modding all of Ark's friends. Can't cover up the obvious with another public relations intervention.
I think people in comp especially are just inclined to complain. I get that. I used to complain a lot too. It is tough to understand decisions when not everything is 100 percent transparent. I get that.
I will do what I can to justify any decision I make
Ark definitely recommended them, but I wouldn't make them mods if I didn't think they exhibited positive behavior. I've been thrilled with my mod team thus far and I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with them. There are always improvements to be made, but I am confident that our team will do an exemplary job of moderating the site.
Lucid told me we are allowed more than 16 mods btw. There are a lot of great mod candidates. I'd like to give everyone a shot if possible.
If I'm doing a poor job please let me know, I respect and appreciate any and all feedback. I'm away right now but I will spend extra money on data to defend any decisions we make because I think they are good ones.

Alright I'm supposed to be on vacation but I'm drunk and hopelessly devoted to EM. I want to say this though.
The notion of modding your friends is absolute garbage. I have not made a moderator out of any of my friends who weren't mods previously. Kino is the only mod that I've strong armed and I have been thrilled with her performance thus far and her willingness to learn. I never even spoke to her before asking her about her mod application.
Katie and jasprar are both people who were suggested to mod while arcbell was admin. After I was stupid about handling DYLV, vancy and rose left the mod team and we all pressured arcbell into making new mods for us, and Katie and jasprar were both heavily discussed and recommended to become full mods. Then trial mods happened and the rest was history. Given the situation, I couldn't blame them for turning it down.
Yes, ark is friends with Katie and jasper. I met with both of them earlier today and went through multiple reports with them and they both had a knack for it and the right idea about how to handle themselves as moderators. I wouldn't have pushed for them both to become mods if I wasn't confident that they would represent the site well. I'm willing to take any flack they or any mods take as a result of poor performance.
I am trying my best to make the selection process for mods as objective as possible. Katie and jasper were mutually agreed on by almost the entire team (including those who had never met them, ie myself) as the best candidates and after interviewing them and going through some reports, I felt they were well suited for the position and would both be capable.
I've actually discouraged many of my friends from applying for mod positions because I personally don't want to mod people that I was friends with previously. After seeing how my relationship with arcbell changed during my time working with him, I never wish to see that happen again with any of my other buddies on the site
