Alright guys! The Tournament has officially started! I've created a bracket on challonge.com (link below), and you can find your match partner there. I apologize that there are a few byes, but that can't really be helped. I randomized the seed, so there's no bias on my part.
Please post below or pm me a screenshot of your match(s). Only one person needs to do this. It is up to you if you want to play only 1, best of 3, best of 5, etc., but if I find out that any foul play has been going on, then you will have to redo the match, and both players will need to post screenshots. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
Please get this done ASAP, as this will help keep the tournament running at a reasonable pace. I will need your results by June 19th. If you have trouble setting up a match with your partner, PM me and I will take care of it.
Important note
Cheating accusations should be brought directly to me, via PM. Any rudeness directed at other players will not be tolerated. Be nice, have fun, and let's all be good sports. Remember, it's just a game.
The only problem with that is people could lie and say they're a 1 when they're really a 5, and just power their way through. Especially since there is a lot of luck (not all luck, but some) involved in Battleships, I feel like it wouldn't be worth it. Perhaps with a future game, though. Good idea, dez :)
Maybe, since I am a declared noob in Batteships, we could get everybody rate themselves from 1-5, and just like in any other competition, match them up fairly.
Its just cause there is a lot of luck and playing more then one game reduces the luck involved in the game (the odds of winning one game due to pure luck are decent, the odds of winning multiple games to luck is slim). lol
It would also add a new layer of strategy to the game (ie, my opponent has placed his battleship 2 rows up from the bottom in the last 2 games, should I see if he's doing that again) or, last game my opponent made his shots in this pattern, should I set up my pieces to increase how long it takes for that pattern to hit them. etc etc.
I'm planning on doing a tournament bracket style. Whoever wins moves on. I suppose it's between the 2 people who get paired up if you want to do best of 3 or whatever, idrc. What I'm thinking is I'll create a board and pair everyone up, and pm the people with their partners. It will be up to the duo to organize a time There will be a deadline to pm me the winner of your duo. This is my first time doing anything like this, so suggestions are welcome!
