You'll need to get 2000 or 2500 points (and maybe some more karma) to get the ticket that lets you play in Competitive Lobby.

Welcome back! A lot of our players from when we started don't play anymore, and the new crowd is very "cliqu-ish." You'll find that the Training Lobby has a lot of players who prefer guided setups (strictly 1 maf ccs the cop, etc) and Competitive Lobby will have players who prefer grueling 1-2 hour games that are mostly scumhunting. Sandbox Lobby is 100% "just have fun" without much thought put into any of the lynches.
